Particle formation in vehicle exhaust
Posted: Fri Mar 19, 2010 8:36 pm
An example of simulation of particle formation in the exhaust of a vehicle.
The results are obtained by coupling Code_Saturne (hot mixture jet) with an aerosol sub model developped at CEREA , the Modal Aerosol Model ("MAM"), involving different chemical species (90 variables).
The figures represent some example of concentration of different species that can be formed in the plume.
More details can be found here (thesis in French) or in the following article : Albriet et al., 2010 : "Modelling aerosol number distribution from a vehicle exhaust with an aerosol CFD model. Atmospheric Environment, 44, 1126-1137
